I always recommend that whether you have the in-office or general anesthesia procedure that you fill the pain med Rx prior to the surgery. If you have post op cramps on the way home, no way do you want to stop and wait in line at the pharmacy for your Rx to be filled. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I haven't had any children, so I wouldn't know if the pain can be stronger, but from my observations over the years - it's different for different people. Some find it easy to handle, some don't. Most of us in the last year and a half find that in-office meds have improved, and that bad pain results are getting less common with that form. After getting home, the recovery is pretty much identical no matter which type of pain control you had during the surgery. Staying on top of the pain is the most effective. Some women experience very little pain at all. Lifting and bending can set off cramps anytime during the first two weeks, so it's wise to know your limitations while you are in early recovery.
