Hi Hoovermoose,

I'd like to add to respond as one who had very little discomfort and was really glad I had it done. If I had to do it all over again, knowing everything I do now, I wouldn't hesitate. Mine was done in the doctor's office and I was wide awake. I hadn't stumbled upon this board before my ablation, so I just believed the standard "you'll be fine the next day" line. I have to admit that I hated dealing with the discharge afterwards (mine was a lot of "gushes" for about 1.5 weeks afterward, although every woman is different when it comes to that). But that was pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. My procedure was on a Friday, and I tried to take it easy over the weekend (some minor mishaps at home made that a bit difficult). By Monday I was back to all of my usual activities, including work and exercise.

So I'm not saying that everybody's experience will be as smooth as mine. But I did want to assure you that there are definitely success stories out there. Don't psych yourself out of the procedure just because of reading some scary stories on the internet. I'm not trying to downplay those who had complications. It's just that you are right that more people post after trouble. It's important to know there are risks, but we all have to weigh the risks vs benefits in everything we do.

Take care,
-Anita
