On Wednesday, December 7th 2005, I had the NovaSure Procedure at an outpatient clinic performed by my gyneocologist. I was 49 at the time with children. I had a history of heavy periods and then after my children heavy, heavy, heavy periods or the first 2 days and then very light. I had a cyst also. There were no guarantees this would work...this was 2005 and a new procedure.  The doctor performed a d&c first (I didn't know this until after) and then the NOVA sure procedure. The procedure caused me to bleed heavily and the NOVASURE machine went off. The doctor tried with the other NOVASURE procedure and the same  results happened. He called the 800 while I was still under...and NOVASURE customer service had no answer for this. Mind you this is in California, well populated area, state of the art facilities. The doctor said that he didn't think the procedure would work.

The following week on Tuesday, Dec 13 in the evening (mind you my husband just left to go to NY on business) I was shopping for food at the grocery store and for some reason I looked down and saw that my jeans looked funny since I was in blood soaked pants and I didn't even realize it. I went home and an orange sized blood clot came out...finally the bleeding subsided. The doctor told me to rest and come in the next morning since the bleeding had stopped. In the middle of the night, I woke up with blood all around me. (Clearly, I should have been told to go to the hospital by the doctor). I was given an injection to stop the bleeding.

Long story short, I had an emergency hysterectomy (through the belly button) later in the morning. I lost a lot of blood prior to the surgery and had a few transfusions and was in the hospital for 5 days.

One day, I expect to see an advertisement on television from an injury lawyer about NOVASURE.  I consider NOVASURE a big mistake. It would have been a lot easier to set up an appointment for a hysterectomy.
