Hi, Oozos! Welcome! It is absolutely normal to have a D&C and a hysteroscopy at the same time. My impression is that having the D&C gives you a better "burn" and will increase the likelihood of the ablation working well - without the D&C, the "burn" of the Novasure would just burn the lining that is there and which will slough off at your next period time. Scraping all of that out first allows the Novasure to burn the actual uterine wall, thereby preventing or at least lessening the monthly endometrial tissue build-up. You can check on that, but I'm pretty sure that is why the D&C is done.

As for the hysteroscopy, was anything mentioned about any type of cyst or growth in your uterus that would be removed? If so, that is what the hysteroscopy is for.

When it comes to heavy sedation or general anesthesia, my preference would be the general. But that's me!

These things should definitely be discussed with your doctor so that you are more comfortable with what will be happening. But all of these things are very normal...

Good luck - I'm sure you'll do just fine! Keep us posted on what's happening with you, okay?

On Coumadin for lifetime because of repeated blood clots
Menstrual cycle was completely normal until I started Coumadin in February, 2012.  Then all heck broke loose...blood, blood, blood...to the point of nearly passing out.  Hence the reason for the above procedures! Pathology from EA indicated issues, so I had a hysterectomy on March 18, 2013
