WOW...I cannot believe I am SEVEN YEARS post endometrial ablation!!!
I had a very successful balloon ablation in Feb. 2000. It took about a year for everything to settle down. The first year was very frightening to me as I didn't know if the ablation was successful or not. I feared my heavy bleeding would just come back, but it did not!
The next few years things settled and I had light periods. They varied in cycle length. Some months I bled 6 days, other months 9 or 10 days - all light!
The past few years my periods became lighter and shorter. I am thrilled!!!!!! I mostly spot now/or flow very light, and have 3-4 day periods.
I am 39 now and I think I may be in peri-menopause, but my ob/gyn does not think so. My Mom had a very early menopause and supposedly women seem to follow their Mom's menopause to the tee, so...who knows. I am not the doctor, but I do know something is changing in my body.
I was originally told I would probably get 5 years out of my ablation and I am on 7 years now! I feel blessed and grateful and I hope this continues for many years to come!
I still have several fibroids. I get an ultrasound each year to keep an eye on them. So far they have not caused me any symptoms. My ob/gyn said we won't worry about them until they do cause symptoms. So I don't worry!
My entire story is here:
I would HIGHLY recommend this procedure to any woman who is a good candidate for it and whose doctor recommended it to her.
