I had posted this under outcomes, but that may have not been the place for it.....SORRY. So here is my experience so far:
I'm 18 hours out of my Novasure and D&C. (had it around 2 pm yesterday)
My team of nurses and doctors were Excellent!
Upon waking up from the anesthesia (the stuff M.J. died using. He was stupid), I was more alert than I thought. They had given me some pain meds via my IV before waking up. I wanted my clothes and drink. I got both. And within a half an hour, was discharged.
I got home and my husband gave me only two advil before I laid down. I did have some acute pain on my left side and two advil were NOT helping. However, I did take two more and I was able to better manage it with the 4 total advil and a heating pad. By 10 pm last night the acute pain was fading into quite manageable cramping.
So about 6 hours later it was very livable!
My doc and nurses all told me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours....no breaks. So I did wake up at 3 a.m. to take my next dose. I didn't want to chance the acute pain returning. And it hasn't. I'm to stick to the 8 hr meds regiment through Sunday. (today is Sat.)
My team also told me that today would be a LOT better, but NOT to over due it. I need to still rest. The more I move around, the more I will bleed. It's only about 8:45 a.m., so I don't think I've done too much yet. LOL
I did get a horrible headache last night that the ibuprofen wasn't helping. I assumed it was caffeine withdrawal. I had half a cup of coffee. Headache went away! =)
I only bleed a little when I pee so far. Wondering how long that will last and if it will change to a more steady stream of things. Hope not. But...you never know. No real burnt smell...yet.
Oh, and I got pictures! LOL My dr. gave me before and after pictures.
Did anyone else get those? Strange, but interesting.
My throat is a bit sore today, but they warned me it may be from the tube to help me breathe while I was under. No worries newbies, they put it in and take it out WHILE you're already knocked out. You don't even know it's there. EVER. And you may not even have it if you go under with some different anesthesia. Not sure.
So far today, I'm mildly crampy. I feel like I could go out to grocery store! I won't though. I'm take their advice and continue to take it easy today and tomorrow. Besides, how often does one's husband and kids dote on you this way? I'm gonna enjoy it! LOL
I'll update more a little later. Maybe on Monday...my third day out and see where things are.
I appreciate all the wonderful support I got from this site. You all have been dead on so far with what I've been through. Keeping on top of the pain with the 800 mb of Ibuprofen and the heating pad have been my friends. Resting is a good thing. And ALL the anesthesia was out of my system in a few short hours with all the liquids I was and still am drinking! I'm gonna continue to stay hydrated, take my meds and rest!
I was very worried about having this procedure done 1 week before Christmas. So far, my worries are fading away!! I hope they continue too!
