I had my hysteroscopy, D&C and Novasure today as an outpatient at 8:30am. That meant a 6:30 arrival time, which was good since I only had to fast from midnight and wasn't starving or super thirsty. Everything went very well, from the IV being put in (the nurse numbed my hand first, so I didn't even feel it) to the cranberry juice and graham crackers I was given before I went home. I was given Versed before I was taken to the OR and I don't remember anything after that, not even going through the door from the pre-op room into the OR itself. I did have some cramping as I was first waking up, but they gave me Torodal in my IV to help that and I had two Tylenol #3s before I left.
My husband brought me home, we had a light lunch and I napped for about five hours. There's some cramping now, but it's not that bad, for which I'm very grateful. I have my heating pad and motrin, with Tylenol #3 in reserve in case I need it. There's some watery discharge from the hysteroscopy, but it's definitely manageable, especially in comparison to my usual periods. I have about 5 days a month that are blood free. My last one was from April 2 to yesterday, April 14, heavy bleeding with clots throughout and only two weeks after my last period, which was similar in duration. I was really looking forward to having this done and am hopeful to get at least 50% reduction in bleeding.
