Hello everyone! I'm getting elbow deep into my research and I'm trying to determine what are the possible downsides of a uterine ablation in my case. My ob is suggesting it as a fix for my situation. Speaking of, here it is:
-I'm 41
-I'm not going to have any more children
-my cycle is getting shorter and shorter - I'm now down to 19 days from start to start, lasting seven days from spotting to the all clear. This means I get less than one good week, one week of PMS and one week of bleeding. Lather, rinse, repeat. Ugh.
-my PMS is increasing
If I'm totally honest, I feel mostly fine. I can no longer donate blood because I test a bit light, but I don't have any serious energy crisis and am not technically anemic. I don't get evil PMS, but I get very fuzzy-headed and clumsy and it's starting to subtract a few days of good working time from each cycle. (I'm a writer.)
My doc seems to think ablation is a low-tech cure and that I can just coast into menopause on waning ovary power without the hassles of PMS and periods.
Sounds good, but it seems there has to be a catch. Any advice would be awesome. So, now I'll go poke around some more on this site. Thank you for being here.
