I had my ablation 11 years ago and I am happy to report it is STILL working! I am 43 now and I do still have a few small fibroids my doctor and I watch but thankfully they have not caused me any symptoms, yay! I still get periods but they are extremely light and I feel so blessed for this. I had a Thermachoice Uterine Balloon Therapy performed way back in February 2000 and I am so grateful I didn't have to get a hysterectomy. It was hard emotionally for me the first year post-ablation since I didn't trust the procedure. I wasn't sure what the outcome would be and I was just so sick and tired of those heavy periods I had experienced pre-ablation. I was so afraid the heavy bleeding would come back but it did not thank God. I don't think about any of this much anymore, I haven't in years really but if I do think about it, it is with extreme gratitude that I was a candidate and that the procedure worked for me. I keep this web site and the forums here since I had promised God if he helped me find a way out of that hell that was my life when I had menorrhagia I would show my appreciation and help others. I stuck to my word and will continue to do so. I have always loved to help people and I am grateful women find this place and it helps them. That truly warms my heart! I am in perimenopause now and it is, well, it is plain awful but what can we do?! I try my best to deal with it and not let it get to me much. My plan is when I enter menopause to go the natural route with no HRT. As long as my symptoms don't get incapacitating and effect the quality of my life I won't take anything. Crossing fingers here. =) I highly recommend this procedure to any woman who is a good candidate for it and whose doctor recommends it to her. I also have endometriosis so I'm curious to see if I'll end up having a hysterectomy at some point or not. If the EA isn't successful I will. My dr promised he won't make me wait until I'm dying of pain. Hugs, ~kamikazekahlua~

Posts: 1 (09/18/11 16:42:36) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Michelle, My story is similar is a lot of ways. I was 45 and had menstural problems my whole life. No fibroids or masses were found. By the time I got help I was very anemic and my Hemoglobin was 10. I had my ablation (balloon) 2.5 yrs ago. I have had NO bleeding at all and a reduction in my PMS. Just slight cramping and irratibility. I too had the severe cramping afterward (my nurse told me I would in the hospital and it would be like 2nd stage labor so I did know about it.) Mine lasted about 12 hrs as well. My down side would be that scar tissue grew over my cervix and my first pap about a year afterward they had to break thru the scar tissue which was a little uncomfortable. I would do it again for the change it has made in my life!

I have very heavy bleeding for 20 to over 30 days at a time. with very painful cramps. i can not take birth control. i have gone to 3 doctors and no help. i get very big blood clots and if i use a tampon the shoot out like a canon because the blood clots are so big behind then. Now i got a new ob and he can can be rude and straight forward. he has scheduled me to do a D & C this weekend and then said i should consider a Endometerial Ablation. I thought about and read up and wonder if some people have more than one should i bother why not do a Hysterectomy? The biggest thing is i have already been to so many Dr. i don't want to change but i don't feel confertable with this ob. I don't know what to do. I have already been blessed with 2 kids so I'm not worried about that. I just so lost please help.

I have never shared my story, besides with doctors and my immediate family. It is a hard story to share. In December 2003, right before Christmas, when I was stationed at Lackland AFB, something happened that changed my life forever. I was gang-raped, and then my superior didn't allow me to report the incident..........I was consumed by sadness, and to this day, the pain is with me, but what proceeded changed my life forever. After this attack, I developed severe bleeding issues, and the cause could never be determined. I fought with this for many years, trying everything to get the constant bleeding to stop, after over 6 years of almost non-stop bleeding, with maybe a week total of not bleeding, I finally opted to have endometrial ablation. This was not something that I decided light-heartedly, because I always wanted another child, but it became something that I felt I had no choice but to do. The pain is not nearly as bad, and the bleeding is very light, and rare. It was a tough decision, but it was the best decision to make. I would share more of my story, but at this time, it is too difficult, and sharing this much is a type of therapy. Also there is a condition called Pelvic Floor Disorder, which is common after rape, which might cause some of these problems, but I didn't find out about it, until after I had the procedure.There is treatment for this condition, that might make some not need this procedure. I am in therapy, but there are eternal scars, inside and out from the horror that I went through on that day.

I am one week into my Endometrial ablation and have questions that your website answered for me. I have fibroids and have had to have blood infusions because of my massive amounts of blood loss. I am so hoping this works for me. I went to my Gyno ready to get a hystorectomy and he recommend after trying different medications that didn't work the ablation. I have had severe cramping for the past five days and was questioning how long it would last that's when I found your site. Thank you again for creating it you have been a big help.

December 15th I'm going to talk with my doctor about the endometrial ablation. I'm so tired. I want to have a normal life. I just want the EA works!!!!!!!!!!
