My name is Jo-Ann and I have two boys (9yrs and 8 yrs). For the past few weeks I have been trying to research endometrail ablation and not finding the best information, until now. I find it so much better to talk with people going through the same thing then reading about it.
My brief history...
My husband and I went through three years of infertility, two years of testing and treatments and 3 m/c. (I have PCOS) Now, we are so lucky to have our boys!
About 8 months ago my periods went from what I considered normal (always terrible cramping but manageable flow) to so heavy that for two or three days I can't be away from a bathroom for longer then 1 1/2 hours. Cramps haven't changed... they are still horrid.
I saw my doctor who has had me do blood work and I was supposed to go in for a pelvic u/s tomorrow, but surprise, my period showed up 10 days early and I can't have the u/s with this flow. I am now rebooked for the middle of July.
My doctor said my options (pending all good results of tests) were to go on progesterone, birth control, mirena, or the ablation. I wasn't keen on hormones so was leaning towards the ablation. Right about now, I don't care what is done, I am finding life hard to function.
So my first question of I am sure many, is did all of you or any of you try the hormone route first? Was it successful? Or should I just lean towards the ablation immediately?
