Ladies, we would like to remind you of some valuable links contained on this website, and some other very important information.
NOTE: This sticky note is not a post that will get read and responded to. Please start a new topic!
First, the Pre-Op and Post-Op Tips links are on the lefthand side of each page. They contain invaluable information for you to read, print up, and ask your doctor. Remember, the more informed you are, the better you will be prepared for your surgery, and your care before and after.
Secondly, if you experience any symptoms that concern you after surgery, contact your doctor right away!
These include fever, funny smelling discharge, bleeding more than a pad an hour, and a number of other things -- this is not a definitive list, so if you experience something not included here and it concerns you, contact your doctor! If things seem off to you -- call the doctor! If you get someone who cannot answer your questions, ask for someone who can. If you cannot get help over the phone, you may want to consider going to emergency room. This is not to scare you -- few of us have any adverse symptoms, but some of us do, and waiting can make the difference in how you recover -- length of time, comfort level, other complications. Be Proactive! This is your body, and you have the right to ask, ask, ask. Be sure that you have a prescription for your pain meds filled and ready to go home with you after surgery, as well as a prescription for antibiotics. Ask your doctor in your pre-op visit about both. Your doctor may give you antibiotics through your IV, and you won't have anything to take home, but you will want to know that.
You have the right to pursue health care excellence, and post-op recovery without complications!
If you have any questions regarding this, please post a question, and let us know!
Here's to successful surgeries!
